Removal of Suction Anchors at Shelley Field

In March 2011 Sevan Marine ASA awarded a contract to Semar AS for removal of the 12 suction anchors at the Shelley Field. The anchors were used for the mooring of the Sevan Voyageur FPSO.

Software Tools

SEMAR utilizes a variety of software tools to perform analysis and design operations:



MEDINA
A Finite Element pre- and post processor. MEDINA provides interfaces to ABAQUS, ANSYS, AUTOFORM, AUTOSEA, CATIA, LS-DYNA, MARC, NASTRAN, PAMCRASH, PATRAN, STAR-CD, STEP file, STL file, Universal file, VDA, VECTIS, VOXEL file.

AUTOHYDRO / AUTOSHIP
Autohydro is used to perform hydrostatic and stability calculations, for both intact and damage conditions.
Autoship is a hull design/surface modeling program.

WADAM
A general hydrodynamic analysis program for calculating wave-structure interaction for fixed and floating structures of arbitrary shape. (part of the SESAM software system developed by Det Norske Veritas)
A Finite Element pre- and post processor.

MIMOSA
An efficient computer program for analysis of mooring systems and moored vessels. Mimosa is a part of the SESAM software system developed by Det Norske Veritas)

PERMAS
A Finite Element analysis program that offers a complete range of physical models at the highest possible performance, quality and reliability. PERMAS provides solutions for statics, dynamics, heat transfer, fluid-structure acoustics and optimization. PERMAS directly reads and writes many data formats including MEDINA , CATIA, PATRAN, I-DEAS, ADAMS, DADS, SIMPACK, NASTRAN, MATLAB. In some cases, PERMAS is completely integrated into the CAD software.

STAAD PRO
A software package for analysis and design of concrete and steel structures.

ABAQUS
A program which uses finite element methods to find complete solutions for simple to complex linear and nonlinear engineering problems using implicit or explicit solution techniques. Includes CAE pre-processor and post-processor.

MICROSTATION 3D
A 2D/3D draughting/drawing/3D modelling program.

INVENTOR
Software for designing and documenting 3D parts and assemblies.

3D-STUDIO MAX
Software for 3D modeling and animation.

SIMO
A computer program for simulation of complex, general, multibody marine operations. The program has a complete environment model (wind, waves and stationary current), which is required for position-keeping (mooring and/or DP) analysis. It also includes models for mooring systems and DP with thrusters.

ORCAFLEX
Analysis tool developed for simulation of motions and station keeping behaviour of systems of floating vessels and suspended loads. This program includes features such as non-linear time domain simulations of wave-frequency and low-frequency forces and motions, environmental forces due to wind, waves and current, and passive and active control forces such as anchor lines, hawsers and winches.
