Hywind Tampen
Hywind Tampen is the world’s first floating wind farm built to power offshore oil and gas platforms. Located approximately 140 km off the Norwegian coast in the North Sea, the project consists of 11 floating wind turbines with a total capacity of 88 MW, which makes it the world’s largest floating wind farm.
The project included the installation of 19 suction anchors and 33 mooring lines.
Semar played a key role alongside DOF Subsea in the planning and execution of the tow and hook-up operations for Equinor’s Hywind Tampen floating wind turbines.
Semar was responsible for designing and fabricating an innovative seafastening solution for the suction anchors. The design was developed with the intention that welding of the anchors would not be required during interim mobilizations. This solution demonstrated significant effectiveness during the operation by reducing anchor mobilization time by at least 50%.
Our personnel were onboard Skandi Iceman, contributing as Offshore Manager, Tow Master, and Lead Engineers during the installation phase. Thanks to thorough planning and solid engineering, the operation was carried out safely and efficiently—demonstrating the strength of our team and approach in complex offshore projects.
