Veslefrikk B Marine Management and Engineering
The Veslefrikk B semi-submersible floating production platform hosted the habitation and production part of the Veslefrikk field development. The platform was connected to the wellhead platform Veslefrikk A by a walkbridge and a number of hoses and umbilicals. Veslefrikk production was closed in 2021, after 32 years in operation.
As part of Equinor’s decommissioning project Semar, together with DOF, was contracted to plan, manage and execute the disconnection, removal and tow of the Veslefrikk B platform. The work included removal and disposal of the hoses connecting Veslefrikk A and B, disconnection of Veslefrikk B’s mooring system and tow to shore. After system decommissioning and thruster removal, the platform was towed to a recycling facility in Denmark.
Semar contribution included high-level and detailed engineering and operations planning, as well as hands-on execution during the operations phases, including tow masters and offshore managers.
