KNM Helge Ingstad frigate salvage
Following the collision and sinking of the Norwegian Navy frigate KNM Helge Ingstad, a complex salvage operation was carried out. The project included oil removal and the installation of heavy lifting equipment to safely recover the vessel from the seabed.
Semar played a central role in the salvage operation of KNM Helge Ingstad, in close collaboration with SubseaPartner.
The lifting rigging was installed around the hull by divers, with precise placement on structurally strong points to ensure safe recovery. Given the vessel’s position on a slope with risk of further sliding, careful planning and execution were critical.
Semar was responsible for developing the lifting methodology, including storyboard sketches, design of installation aids, and fabrication drawings. Our engineers and marine operations managers were present on site to supervise the operation, ensuring it was carried out according to procedures and adapting solutions as needed in real time.
